| *For Neddy - A Poem by Kith |
| Every night when it's time for sleep, and the dark starts coming
creepity-creep I call my mother and I ask her "Where are John and Jeek and the Teddy Bear Bear?" Now John is a rag doll white and plaid, and the naughtiest doll that I ever had. Jeek is a sort of a clown, I think; Teddy is brown-eyed, fuzzy and pink. The dark has shadows - it used to be when I went to bed they worried me. But not any more 'cause the dark can't scare John & Jeek & the Teddy Bear Bear Jeek is white with blue eyes. He's funny looking but very wise. Teddy is fat and soft and sad, and John is naughty and makes me bad. When the light goes and the dark comes by, John sits up and he winks his eye, And they all line up on my bedroom chair - John and Jeek and the Teddy Bear Bear We play some games and John's the best. Then Jeek tells stories while we rest. And finally Teddy climbs on the bed and walks on his hands and stands on his head. All of a sudden it's morning again; I've fallen asleep, but I don't know when. But I've been watched - so I don't care - by John and Jeek and the Teddy Bear Bear. So now you know why I love them so, when the darkness comes and the bright lights go, And I call to my mother to look around till John and Jeek and Teddy are found. I line them up against the wall, and shadows and things can't come at all. 'Cause I sit up in bed and I say, "Beware of John and Jeek and the Teddy Bear Bear!" |
