| Wolf Slain Near City Line |
| A sheep-killing timber wolf had been killed in the 6100 block
Pimlico road near the city-Baltimore county line and it is believed that
another wolf is in the area. The wolf, so identified by D. M. Oxenham, Baltimore taxidermist, was shot last week by Shelton Johnson of 6119 Pimlico Road. Mr. Johnson had caught the wolf and another wolf-like looking animal killing three sheep on his eight-acre plot of ground. He killed the one attacked but the other escaped. Thinking that the dead animal, a dark colored male, was a wild dog, Mr. Johnson buried it. Later a friend requested a look at he "dog with a wolf-like appearance." After seeing it, he took it to the taxidermist, who identified it as a timber wolf. Mr. Johnson said the female animal, which escaped from the fenced-in pasture through a hole dug under the wire, appeared as if she might be bearing a litter. He said that the wolf and its mate "tore three of my sheep to pieces." One sheep "had almost all the wool torn off of her," he said. The female has not been seen since the attack. |
