THE PENDLETON ARMS

 

THE FAMILY OF        Pendleton

ARMS:         Gules, an inescutcheon argent between four escallops or.

CREST:        A demi-dragon with wings addorsed or, holding an escallop argent.

                        The arms antedates the common use of mottoes.  Bolton states that some members of the Virginia family use the

MOTTO:       motto:  Maneo qualis manebam.  He qualifies the statement by the words "not used by all".  Evidently adopted for use by some members of the family in America.

TINCTURES AS SHOWN BY DESCRIPTION:

    The shield is of red.

     The inescutcheon is of silver.

     The escallop shells are of gold.

      The demi-dragon is of gold, the shell  held by it of silver. 

      The mantle and wreath are of red and silver,

        BEFORE ME, the undersigned a Notary Public for and in Bexar County, State of Texas, this day personally appeared George C. Martin of the firm of Martin & Allardyce, of Terrell Wells, Texas, who took oath that the insignia above described appears in the published authority above mentioned.
