In this Ahnentafel (Ancestor) Book each person is given an Ahnentafel number, say, N, which is shown just to the left of his or her name (do not confuse these with the Brother's Keeper number shown to the right of the names). Then that person's father's number will be 2xN and the mother's number will be 2xN+1. For example: Hester Ann MOORE is #11; therefore her father is #22 (Edward MOORE) and her mother is #23 (Kittie FOSTER). Using this scheme, the ancestors of any person listed can be found--if they on this list. The highest number shown is 6656 which means that there are a lot of unknown ancestors--a challenge for future genealogical adventures!
The Ancestor Chart gives a better overall view of the ancestors but without as much detail as the Ahnentafel Book includes.
