Martha (Kendall) Wilson's Ranch
| In 1997, we (Kith and Bill Gateley) drove past the house
on the ranch, south of Calhan on the Calhan Highway, just past the Paint
Mine Road, stopped and took the first photo. The then-current
owner was in the yard and motioned for us to drive in, where the second photo
was taken After hearing of our interest in the place, he invited
in. He thought that probably the two-story part was the original house and
where Martha and her children lived. In that part there was a
narrow and steep stairway leading to the second floor. We had
difficulty imagining all of those people living in such a small
space...
We later learned that the owner moved to the Eastonville area which is where Martha lived before moving to Calhan. |
